Potato Bread Rolls




Potato is one of the vegetables which is healthy and most liked by kids. Potatoes are rich in potassium, vitamin C and vitamin B6 and contain lots of carbohydrates. Hence it is extremely important to add potatoes to a child's diet. If a child is underweight then giving potatoes in different forms will be good for him.

This recipe has lots of fats and carbohydrates and hence it makes a delicious and filling breakfast for kids. Apart from this, it can be prepared as finger food for parties at home. Crispy from outside and soft and savoury from inside they will be liked by all kids and adults.


Ingredients:

1. 5 potatoes
2. 1 finely chopped onion
3. Whole wheat bread (or white bread)
4.1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
5. 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
7. 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
8. 1 teaspoon garam masala
9. Red chilli powder
10. Salt to taste
11. Fresh coriander
12. Vegetable oil
13. 1 cup of water


Soup:

1. Boil potatoes until tender and then mash them.
2. Heat 4 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add chopped onion and saute till it becomes pink.
3. Add mashed potatoes and let them cook for 2 mins.
4. Now add salt and red chilli powder to taste. Add grinded fennel and coriander seeds. Let the mixture cook for 5 more minutes and keep stirring.
5. Add garam masala and cook for 2 more minutes. Now let the potato mixture cool down.
6. Now take a slice of bread and remove the sides. Take water in a broad bowl and lightly soak the bread in water. Now drain the water by pressing the bread between your palms.
7. Fill in about a heaped tablespoon of mixture in the bread and roll it to make closed oval shaped rolls.
8. Deep fry in oil on medium heat till golden brown. Serve with ketchup or coriander chutney.
